As a small treat (to go along with the chocolate, good wine and flowers I trust y'all are enjoying) for Valentine's Day, allow me to recommend this as a good book for February.
Jewell Parker Rhodes is a friend of mine, and I always enjoy her books--well-written historical novels with vivid characters. I think this is one of her best.

Just reserved it from the library--thank you, always looking for someone good to read (while jonesing for I won't say what!) My desperation has reached new lengths as nothing else appeals and I am finding myself digging through my Outlander et al paperbacks for my favorite scenes!

Thanks for the recommendation!I'll check it out as soon as I get done with Sara Donati's Into the Wilderness series. Which incidently was recommended to me by the gentleman at the Poisoned Pen (when we went on a recent trip to Phoenix) as a series of books that would get me through till Echo comes out. Imagine my surprise when I came across a page where Jamie, Claire, and Ian are mentioned! I thought how neat and it was set during a time I figured will be in Echo? (Freemen's Farm) but when I looked at the date the book came out it was before a ABOSAA. Wow! So thanks again I will check it out ASAP.
Isn't the possessive of Douglass supposed to be Douglass' ?

You sometimes see it that way, but technically, no--even a name ending in "s" has a "'s" added to form the possessive--weird though it looks when you have three esses in a row. [g]

i found this in a book store a while back and it is very good. It added dimension to a person I had only ever thought of as a "historical character". Even though it's fiction it's based on facts of his life and is very believable.
currently trying to make it through clive barker's imajica. it's good, but not the same as yours =)

It never hurts to ask, right? Thanks for the good wishes. I have a POD publisher right now, but am very close to obtaining an agent (finally!), and hopefully, I'll land a traditional publisher soon after. It's been a long eight years...
As for my limited editions, yes, they are beautiful: real leather outside, pretty paper inside, hand-designed signing page. It was my answer to a hardcover. As a newbie, I knew the less expensive paperbacks would sell better, but the LE's have their market, too.
